Handcrafted design

Jewelry has always been part of the human narrative — from the ancient Greek and Roman empires to the deities of Egypt and the sacred symbols of Nordic culture. Throughout history, it has carried deep meaning: as an expression of spirituality, hierarchy, power, and beauty. Jewelry has helped us define who we are and what we believe in.

At Maanesten, these stories, traditions and ancient symbols are woven into our creative process. Our designers and jewelers draw inspiration from mythology, natural forms and the wisdom of history to create new collections that connect the poetry of the past with the aesthetics of today.

It all begins with a theme — perhaps Goddesses of the Night — from which we develop visual mood boards, sketches, and ideas. From there, the design process unfolds by hand, digitally, and in our workshop in the heart of Copenhagen. Some shapes emerge as dreamy, abstract sketches, others as detailed jewelry models, hand-carved and developed in close collaboration with our design team and goldsmiths. Once the final designs are complete, they’re sent to our workshop in India, where experienced goldsmiths and craftspeople bring them to life. It’s in this stage that our dreamy designs take their final form. From first inspiration to final finish, each piece of jewelry is a journey through time, imagination, and form — a little story you can carry with you.

Artist at work

Our Visual Merchandisers are true artists, crafting imaginative dreamscapes that bring our collections — and their themes — to life.

Delivering handmade displays to all our stores and retail partners is no small task, but for us, it’s essential. Not only do we create these installations with care, but we also reuse the same materials season after season — staying true to our company’s commitment to sustainability.
